How to Optimize your Website for the Internet:

1.  Meta Descriptions

2. Click through rate — the amount of times people follow to another page on your site, or select your site from other sources.

3. heading tags — heading tags are utilized as a pronounced part of your website to identify important sections of your site and direct the user.

<h1>This is heading 1</h1>
<h2>This is heading 2</h2>
<h3>This is heading 3</h3>

4. “alt” and “title” tags — appear behind pictures and images… they look like this:

<a href=”http://www.justinhoffman.net/ecommerce/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/jumping-for-joy2.jpg”><img title=”This is a picture of Jumping for JOY!!” src=”http://www.justinhoffman.net/ecommerce/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/jumping-for-joy2-150×150.jpg” alt=”This is where you write the alternative information if the image is not showing up or blocked by the user!!” width=”150″ height=”150″ /></a>

Hover over the picture below and you will see that there is a title that pops up and provides a title for the image…

5. Good URL format– www.justinhoffman.net/ecommerce/web-analytics
            or   www.justinhoffman.net/ecommerce/learn-web-analytics

— notice how we can do this in our current web pages under “settings” then “permalinks”
